Russia Will Test an Underwater Drone With The Poseidon Nuclear

Testing of the Russian underwater drone Poseidon is scheduled to begin this summer, involving the Belgorod nuclear submarine.

This was reported by RIA Novosti on June 26, 2023.

The Poseidon underwater drone was developed by the Rubin Design Bureau, starting to be designed in 2015 and ready for production in 2023.

Drones have large dimensions, reaching 20 m in length with a diameter of up to 2 m and weighing up to 100 metric tons.

Poseidon, which has a nuclear warhead, is estimated to have an explosive power of 2 megatons or more, making it a very powerful and terrifying weapon.
The underwater vehicle is powered by a liquid metal reactor with a minimum output of 15 megawatts and uses electrical transmission for propulsion.

The Poseidon can operate at a depth of 1,000 m and reach speeds of up to 100 knots (185 km/h).

Virtually unlimited operational range.

In terms of guidance, Poseidon combines artificial intelligence (AI) with satellite control systems, increasing its precision and capabilities.

Poseidon will be the ultimate weapon for the Russian Navy's new giant nuclear submarine known as Project 09852 Belgorod.
